What are they made from?
Jess uses a panini press to mix and melt plastic into colourful sheets. Designs are then hand cut, shaped and finished, all at her home in West Perth.
There was many, many months of learning how to form the plastics to get the desired finishes - Jess still experiments regularly, and like in all aspects of life - mistakes often lead to innovative breakthroughs!

What about the fumes?
These plastics melt at a low heat and as long as they don't burn, there are no harmful fumes. Thanks for your concern :-)
What type of plastic is it?
HDPE and LDPE single use plastics are collected and donated by friends and family instead of going in the bin. This is predominantly lids from containers that local councils do not accept for recycling.
Have you ever noticed the plastic numbering system on the bottom of single use plastic objects? Jess looks for the triangle with a number 2 or a number 4.

Can I donate my lids?
The sad truth is that Arcadian Edge is already over-supplied with lids - and that is when only collecting from a small group of friends and family!
In Perth, lids can be dropped off at Claw Environmental in Welshpool.

How should I care for plastic jewellery?
Recycled plastic is so lightweight and fun, it's easy to throw them around - BUT they will scratch very easily. Heat and sunlight can be a problem, as this plastic melts at a low temperature (don't leave them in the car!). The good news is that nothing much sticks to this type of plastic, so dirt is not a concern - use a soft, damp cloth to remove fingerprints or makeup or whatever else you've been splashin' around in.
